Record the basics

Note when and where you noticed the pest, along with what you were doing when you saw it. A precise location is more helpful than a general description of the whole home.

Describe what you saw

Write down its approximate size, color, movement, and any other visible details. If you are unsure, use ordinary descriptive words rather than trying to identify it.

Keep the record useful

Add later observations as separate entries. This can help you explain whether the concern appeared in one place or several areas over time. Avoid touching or collecting an unfamiliar insect or animal.
